Welcome to the Lake

In 2006, we decided to build our "retirement home" on our lot at Keowee key. Our design were finalized in November, plans were submitted for bids, a builder selected, and approval were obtained from the property owner assocation. (The latter being no simple task.) Construction began in February 2007. Thereafter, it was weekly trips to check the progress; and Joyce was kept busy making trips to various local businesses to select appliances, bathroom fixtures, cabinets, paint colors, tile, etc.

Our new home includes a downstairs apartment for Joyce's mother. So, in addition to all the extra activity associated with building our new home, in July, Joyce went to Sun City, Arizona to help her mother pack out. On the way back to SC, she stopped in Houston to help our daughter pack her house out - Kent had taken a job with a local Greenville engineering firm in April 2007 and the McCaslins moved to Simpsonville, SC, in July as well. (Their home is around the corner from our old Simpsonville house.)

We moved into our new home on October 13 and we love it.
